Baby J: Logan Newborn Photographer

This little guy traveled an hour and back just to come see me for his newborn portraits. He was such a little sweetheart at 1 week old. Having slept for an hour in the car, mama was a little nervous he might not sleep as well. Her mother's intuition was right on, little baby J was wide awake for the first 15 minutes of his session, so we took advantage of the opportunity to capture these beautiful eyes of his! They look so blue!

To get these little sweet babies asleep for their newborn photos, you need every trick in the book and we certainly used a bunch to get this handsome guy comfy and sleeping soundly. Once he was asleep, he was out and so sweet to work with.

With mama and daddy watching, this guy was a happy sleeper and so very handsome. It is so fun for me as I do these studio sessions to see the love these parents have for their new bundles. We make the newborn photography experience as easy and hassle-free as possible.

Jensen Family: Logan, Utah Family Photography

I met Emily and Jordan last year doing extended family portraits and was so happy to be able to do a session just for their little family.

The lighting for this session was just so beautiful. I love this time of year, trees were blossoming and budding so the light filtering through them was magical and glowing. The Logan river's willow trees were especially spectacular.

This session almost didn't happen. About an hour before the session, it was snowing (yes, snowing) with clouds everywhere. Then, the clouds cleared, the sun came out and the clear sky sunset showed up. Welcome to living in Cache Valley in the spring. Our weather can  change just like that.

Lucky for me, our crazy weather cooperated and we were able to capture the beauty of Logan's spring and this darling family.

Carter Family: Logan Utah Studio Photography

This cute family was in studio last week celebrating a big milestone for their littlest member. Baby C was turning 1 last week and this family enjoyed capturing this occasion with pictures for the whole family!

My favorite are these two little guys who were just so naturally fun in studio. Big brother was absolutely perfect and smiled non-stop. His little bro was so comfortable in studio and posed himself most of the time.

The best was seeing this cute family interact. Mom and Dad were able to get such natural smiles out of their boys and it was an absolute joy to capture these cuties.

Happy birthday baby C!!

Into the Woods Newborn Kit

I've been working on this kit for a bit. It's inspired by my adorable friend, Britney, who is expecting a little boy. It's also inspired by one of the most classic boy themes ever- the woods.

Whether it's going off to the neighborhood forest to build a fort out of fallen tree branches, or exploring, or just hunting for bugs. Little boys, and big boys escape and play in the woods.

Britney's darling nursery is based off of this theme, with a definite modern-hunting theme. There are modern deer silhouettes, and arrows. It's so very fabulous and fits in well with her husband, Ryan's, love of hunting.

To suit her nursery and blend in with her family's olive and cream family portraits and decor, I created the Into the Woods kit and Bitty kit.

The kit is defined by lots of different textures and layers. Like what you would find walking through the forest, there is smooth and rough, hard and soft, all working together to bring a beautiful, earthy, natural look without looking out-dated.

Just check out some of the details on these wraps and hats and such.

Just perfect.

And it looks even better on!

Four Generation Family Photo

The standard story of most of my photography clients is that they find me (often through a friend or family member) and book a session, then continue to book beautiful sessions throughout the year to capture amazing moments for their family.

Darcy is one such client who has been an amazing person all around. Her kids are adorable, she loves to recommend me to everyone around her, and she lets me capture amazing things for her. She is the epitome of why I am passionate about affordable photography for my clients.

This last week, I had the priveledge of seeing Darcy's parents again (who tagged along at the Halloween shoot) as well as Darcy's 92 year old Grandmother as we did a four generation shoot between mothers and daughters.

Oh, this was beautiful and made me want to do the same thing with my family.

There is nothing better in the world than the love of a mother.

Except maybe capturing that memory and holding onto it for ever.
