Into the Woods Newborn Kit

I've been working on this kit for a bit. It's inspired by my adorable friend, Britney, who is expecting a little boy. It's also inspired by one of the most classic boy themes ever- the woods.

Whether it's going off to the neighborhood forest to build a fort out of fallen tree branches, or exploring, or just hunting for bugs. Little boys, and big boys escape and play in the woods.

Britney's darling nursery is based off of this theme, with a definite modern-hunting theme. There are modern deer silhouettes, and arrows. It's so very fabulous and fits in well with her husband, Ryan's, love of hunting.

To suit her nursery and blend in with her family's olive and cream family portraits and decor, I created the Into the Woods kit and Bitty kit.

The kit is defined by lots of different textures and layers. Like what you would find walking through the forest, there is smooth and rough, hard and soft, all working together to bring a beautiful, earthy, natural look without looking out-dated.

Just check out some of the details on these wraps and hats and such.

Just perfect.

And it looks even better on!

Four Generation Family Photo

The standard story of most of my photography clients is that they find me (often through a friend or family member) and book a session, then continue to book beautiful sessions throughout the year to capture amazing moments for their family.

Darcy is one such client who has been an amazing person all around. Her kids are adorable, she loves to recommend me to everyone around her, and she lets me capture amazing things for her. She is the epitome of why I am passionate about affordable photography for my clients.

This last week, I had the priveledge of seeing Darcy's parents again (who tagged along at the Halloween shoot) as well as Darcy's 92 year old Grandmother as we did a four generation shoot between mothers and daughters.

Oh, this was beautiful and made me want to do the same thing with my family.

There is nothing better in the world than the love of a mother.

Except maybe capturing that memory and holding onto it for ever.

Cache Valley Amateur Hockey Association Photos

We really do have so many amazing people in Cache Valley, Utah. Being an affordable photographer, I specialize in making beautiful photography accessible. This fits in so well with local youth groups because I can offer packages and prices that meet parent's wants for beautiful photography as well as their budgets.

These boys and girls in our local Hockey League (located at the Eccles Ice Center in North Logan) are so great. They are out on the ice working hard, and they were such perfect subjects. Happy to smile or be serious depending on their age and their parents. Team pictures were a bit chaotic,  especially with the younger groups. Who knew adding ice, skates, and dozens of small children to a portrait would prove difficult. It took several tries, and a bit of loud cheering but we finally got (most) of these cute kiddos to stay put for a shot.

Meanwhile, we had some great package prices for parents to choose from that offered flexibility and affordability. Here's a sneak peak at what it broke down to.

Single Images: $10. (Parents were able to choose a digital or print file, as well as if they wanted a team or individual image)

Two Images: $15. The most popular package by far was the digital two-image package, it's a great price per image and you get a print release to make and share as many copies as you want. Print images were also an option.

Three images: $20. With a head shot, a full shot, and a team shot, three images provided the most for parents and were also available in print or digital files with print release.

Now it's off to deliver all the players images. The best news- Photo by Memories has one of the shortest delivery times for team pictures, same as family and children pictures. All images, print and digital will be delivered in 2 weeks.

Because this kind of photography should be shared, soon.

Second Birthday Pictures

Child photography is a wonderful journey. I get to see first hand the amazing changes in my clients as they grow from new babies into beautiful kids.

Addi is seriously one of my favorite little clients. Her addictive smile, and laugh just spread to everyone around her. She is a favorite of my girls too who love all the amazing things this only grandchild has to share :)

Plus, she has the most beautiful curly hair.

When doing birthday photo shoots, there are always a few things to consider. First, obviously is finding a photographer who can capture beautiful images on a budget. It's also important to consider things like, how much "birthday" do you want included in the form of balloons or other props? What are you using these images for? Just birthday invitations? Maybe pictures for grandma's wall? Depending on what you want to use your image for, you'll want to adjust the look and feel of your set-up.

Addi's mom clued me into the outfit she wanted Addi to wear and we went through background options from there. I love this backdrop, which is feminine without being too girly and will work for birthday pictures, or even well-wishes come Easter.

Studio portraits, whether for newborns, or big kids are beautiful, fun, and if you are lucky like me, full of the magic of childhood.

Enjoy!

Johnson Family Session: Portraits in Smithfield, Utah

Some families are natural in front of the camera, simply because they naturally connect with each other.  It's easy as a photographer getting great photos when just being together gets a whole family smiling, happy, and ready to hug it up!

The Johnson Family was certainly this way. Maybe it has to do with the fact that they are preparring to send Karli off on a mission for 18 months, or maybe because these 3 sisters are just so very sweet together, or maybe it's even everyone's love of the newest, tiny addition to the family.

All told, this family just loves each other. Even their darling dog was just so happy and connected with everyone.
