Baptism Pictures at the Logan Temple

This gorgeous eight year old is all ready for her upcoming baptism! Milestone sessions like these are always such fun. I always feel like I'm freezing childhood with these sessions, capturing an exciting moment that will live in these photos, even when the gorgeous girl I captured grows up.

Seriously, though. This girl has the best smile. She loved her beautiful dress and getting to feel just like the princess she is during this session. I think we all need times in our life when we get to be the focus of the moment- when we just get to soak in the love of those who love us best.

I always encourage parents to come to milestone photography sessions- because they are a great opportunity to be a part of capturing this little, growing child! I feel like smiles and giggles that are in response to banter with parents are always the best ones we capture! They make for gorgeously genuine photos.

When possible, I love getting camera shots that capture this parental love. I am so thankful to be a mom who was so loved by my momma and I wish I had so many photos, just like this one. The way our mom looks at us, the joy that is in that connection, its priceless.

Congratulations! It sure is great to be EIGHT!

Elsie: Logan, Utah Senior Photographer

I had the privilege of photographing this gorgeous girl last week. She picked the coolest location and outfits that all combined to ensure her senior pictures were both beautiful and meaningful to her.

As an active senior- she's had so many cool experiences. It was a joy talking to her about all that she's done- and all the bright opportunities ahead for her!

She was a manager for the Sky View football team- which is so cool and landed her a scholarship to Utah State University. How amazing is that?!

Seriously though, Elsie is always so fun to be around and as I did her senior pictures, I couldn't help but feel the joy this girl resonates! She's just that awesome!

How to Photograph Toddler Twins: Logan Utah Studio Family Photographer

Out of all the ages from newborn up, toddlers present one of the most challenging and fun times to capture. This stage is about wonder, growth, exploration, and fun. These two toddlers were a handful of happy giggles and lots of love. I'm excited to share a few highlights from their gallery as well as some tips for how to photograph toddlers.

1. Use a small seat (or box) but allow independence.  Working with toddlers, it is so important to connect with them, and let them feel that they are free to sit, stand, move, etc. This allows them to focus on having fun exploring someplace new- which makes it easy to get smiles.

2. Bring the right kind of toy(s). I always bring toys that are sized for the child(ren) I'm photographing. For this session- a small, easy to hold dog got all kinds of laughs and gorgeous smiles. I always recommend that anything we use to help get attention (like toys) be kept neutral and be photogenic. After all, you never know when a child will decide that the toy MUST be in the picture too!

  3. Involve family. Toddlers whole worlds revolve around the people that love and care for them. Make picture-taking fun by involving family members in the shots you take. Help family get those smiles going by giving simple directions like playing peekaboo right behind the photographer.

 4. Keep it relaxed. You will never get beautiful, happy images of a toddler when they are distressed. This is why it is so important to work with a photographer who works well with small children- who understands the need for patience as well as the importance of going quickly for those short attention spans. When working with a photographer who has the right experience and qualifications, the whole experience should be calm, relaxing and fun.

Lifestyle Newborn Pictures: Logan, Utah Newborn Photographer

This beautiful family of FOUR has been seeing me for a few years now and it has been such a joy getting to capture their family's sweet story. They are so loving and absolutely GORGEOUS!

Their lifestyle session was perfect in the master bedroom, as it was simple and sweet, with lots of beautiful light coming in through an upper window. Picking out the location for lifestyle photos is always easy if you stick to simple spaces where your family naturally congregates in real life.

As is common with older siblings who are still toddlers, little miss princess wasn't sure about holding the baby. This isn't a problem as we can simply set them next to each other and work around it! I loved that she was able to have her soft teddy with her throughout the shoot, which made her more comfortable while adding an important part of their current life's story to these pictures.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are great options for families, especially during Cache Valley Winters. The lifestyle option allows you to keep baby warm and cozy inside while I come to you. It also captures details that studio sessions can't get, like the rocking chair mommy and daddy use each night or other features of this little new life together.

Two-Year Old Birthday Pictures

This darling little miss is TWO years young! Here mommy had planned the cutest minnie mouse birthday party for her and, of course, this allowed for an adorable themed birthday shoot!
Being a girl mommy, I totally dig all the darling little details on her outfit! (Yes, there are FOUR bows in this ONE picture). Her curly hair, and deep brown eyes.....oh goodness! I can't even stand this level of cuteness.

Pictures at this age are usually best when little one can have a me-sized seat where they are comfortable (I always have a couple options so they can pick their favorite).

We also use toys and lots of silly antics, as two-year olds need to be engaged in any scenario they are in. This little miss loved playing with some sparkly-pink heart wands!

Happy birthday little miss!
